From 11th June to 31st August 2018, I had carried out my internship program at KUMONOS Corporation, Osaka Japan. KUMONOS Corporation is a company that mainly focused on construction survey and inspection. It was established in 1995 to assist the Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. In KUMONOS Corporation, business is divided into 2 parts which are survey and measurement, and development and sales. In survey and measurement, they mainly provide the service by conducting measurements with different advanced tools and instruments by their engineers. Meanwhile, in the development and sales part, they are mainly developing and selling instruments and accessories for measurements survey to their customers.
First day at KUMONOS

During this program, I have joined 3 different divisions which were KUMONOS division, Geospatial Information Division and Sales Division. In KUMONOS division, I went site working to do dashing and learned how to use KUMONOS and the infrared camera. After that, I backed to the office and processed the measurement data by using AutoCAD.
Fujisei-san teached us how to transform the data from KUMONOS to AutoCAD
Fujisei-san taught us how to transfer data from KUMONOS to AutoCAD.

Measured the building shape and crack by using KUMONOS.

Checking problematic tiles (dashing) when site working.

The usual spot for us take rest while site working

In Geospatial Information department, I learned how to use 3D Faro laser scanner at the site. After set up and measure the target data at several stations, I backed office and did the data registration and noise cancellation by using Trimble Real Work software.
Santosh-san taught us how to set-up and using 3D Faro Laser Scanner

On the first weekend at Osaka, our supervisors Otani-san and Kitaura-san guided us around Osaka.

The picture in front of Osaka Castle.

Besides, we also went to Kiyomizu-Dera and Fushimi Inari at Kyoto with Kitaura-san.
We made friends with the girls who're wearing kimono and I had become the translator at this time because these two girls are from China and they can't understand Japanese and English.

Our lunch at a random shop at goneng-zaka.

Second station: Fushimi-Inari.
Fushimi-Inari is a great place which the road is full of torii when you climb up the mountain. It took around 45 mins for us to climb up and return and It's cool when you climbing even though it was a hot sunny day.
Then the next station, Nara.

Nara is a city which famous of deer. You can see the deer here walking anywhere even when you buying the drinks at the roadside. If you bow with the deer here, they'll bow with you too. Let's try it out if you're planning a trip to Nara.
Although it's cute,  I still not dare to walk close to them.

I was impressed by this Todaiji temple. Are you?

If you come to Nara, highly recommend visiting the Shigatsu-do and Hokke-do. You'll be impressed by the beauty of nature here. Kindly remind to check the weather broadcasting before you planning to go. The sun is very passionate and made us felt very hot and tired when we went on that day. If you not coming in summer, you can enjoy this place until the max.

By the way, do you know how Japanese celebrate summer?

Ya, it's all about fireworks!

My colleague, Ishida-san has invited us to her house to watch the firework and enjoyed the food party. This firework is the biggest fireworks in Yodogawa-river, Osaka.

When there's a firework festival, you can see most of the Japanese guys wearing yukata. I'd experienced it too.

Tokyo has Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower. Osaka has Sky Building too. This Sky Building located at Umeda, which is an observation platform that provides an unobstructed 360-degree view. On top of this building is the Floating Garden Observatory, where Osaka's cityscape can be viewed from a height of 170 meters.
If you're wearing white shoes and walking at the Lumi Sky Walk which is inlaid with luminous stones, you will feel like you're walking down a divine river.

The night walk street at Umeda area is full of light decoration too.

Last but not least, the most exciting place I went to is Universal Studio Japan. Although the tickets for USJ is a bit costly, it's really worth.

Hogwarts Castle is a must if you went there!

And the night street at USJ is very beautiful too.

Ya, don't miss out the night parade at USJ. It was incredible.

That's all for my weekend activities and summer vacations.
On the last day in KUMONOS, it was a farewell BBQ party for us. All the colleagues gathered and we need to give some speech during this farewell party.

Last day farewell party in KUMONOS

Last picture with them. Although some of the colleagues went back home already

Besides gaining professional knowledge and skills, I also sharpening my Japanese languages proficiency and learned a lot of Japanese working culture and etiquette. We were really fortunate to be selected to represent UTM to join this Industrial training programme. Deepest appreciation to who take care of me along this internship program.
